Iceland 2017 Recap Pt.1
This is Pt.1 of a few little recaps of my adventures in Iceland I will be talking mostly about the main highlights and sharing some of my favortite pictures in these posts. I may make a separate post talking about details of visiting Iceland such as the price, recommendations, different things we learned, things I'd do and wouldn't do, that sort of thing but for right now just enjoy the Lil Recap of all the good parts!
So! We arrived at the Keflavik airport in Iceland from Miami around 8 in the morning our flight was only 6.5 hours long. We were greeted with a wonderful crisp breeze and a perfectly blue sky! Our first Airbnb we rented was severel hours away so we decided to stop in Reykjavik for breakfast which was only about 35 minutes from the airport. We were all so exhausted but yet exhilarated to be here finally after almost a year of planning we had made it and were starving! Our first restaurant was a wonderful meal till we had to pay and realized we won't be eating out much! The price was high on goods and restaurants for sure but the food is very worth it.

After we all ate and regained some sanity we explored the city a little bit, this specific part of Reykjavik wasn't right in downtown so it was very quaint and quiet and of course very beautiful to walk around during the morning light.

We had finally made it to our Airbnb after getting lost not once but three times! (I was not the navigator during this time) we all napped and then went to the local bonus to grab our groceries. We were staying in a town called Selfoss which was in the country a bit so our cell service was non existent so we had to rely on a trusty paper map!
This was our lovely little walk way to our home which I some how didn't get any pictures of. We had an amazing view of a volcano right in our backyard.

Our first adventure took us to Stong which is the worlds oldest parliament, it was filled with gorgeous views all around! We stayed most the day and just walked around to see everything. Stong was very much like a large park to wonder around and seeing that it used to almost be a town back in the old Viking times was so cool.

On our drive back to our Airbnb we found an abandoned shed by the water which was so beautiful!

It had a little rocky beach all to itself

The Kareth creator was right down the street of our lovely home so we decided to go and see it before the sunset in lovely Selfoss. It was worth the 4$

And what better way to end a long day of hiking then with Icelands best hot dogs! Seriously amazing! Mine was deep fried with melted cheese, crispy onions, raw onions, Doritos, and their magical Icelandic hotdog sauce...perfection.
