Iceland Adventure Recap Pt.3

The Adventures continue in Reykjavik with endless delicious bakery's, beautiful city homes, and gorgeous sights all around!

Best cinnamon roll ever!! And it has no frosting!

Reykjavik was a truly lovely city, smallest city I've been too but it had that sweet quaint Scandinavian feel to it which was so refreshing. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

This is a view of the Aurora  Borealis from the city! How crazy! This was the first time we got to truly see it and it was even cooler because we were able to hear it hum as well!

Harpa is this beautiful glass theater in Reykjavik that's stunning inside and out! And these harbor views are the best.

I'm in love with the tall soft grass everywhere!

Lovely little stop off of yet another waterfall, seriously be prepared for endless waterfalls. This was on our way to Aukuryie where we stayed for severeal days. I didn't get many pictures of the town but it was so adorable and very just cute and nice to wonder.

Precious lil sheepies
Aukuryie did have hearts everywhere even in their street lights! Their economy failed many years back and so the city was in distress so to bring some positive vibes back they placed hearts around the city which I thought was super cute!
This is just one of many turf houses we saw.

Next on our agenda was a Lil road trip to the town of Hestur where we get to embark on our Whale Tour experience!!

Such a cute town but besides the whale tours and a couple small museums there isn't much else to do there.
Our first sighting of a humpback! We were so fortunate we got to see 4 different humpbacks during our 3 hour tour.

His tale was incredible.

We decided to check out the oldest sulfer pit in Iceland hverfjall which was such a crazy thing to go and see. This volcano has been there for 2500 years! How it erupted was really incredible!  This is the view from the top of the volcano looking at another pit that used to be a large volcano at one point in time. If you look at the cars you can sort of get an idea of how high up we were.

We had to drive up this enormous mountain in Aukuryie to get to hverfjall and it was one of the most beautiful drives I think of the whole trip!

This talks a bit about hverfjall and how it erupted and why you cannot see another volcano like hverfjall on the planet, it's truly one of a kind, if you want something cool to read zoom in and take a read!

The inside of the pit!

We then had our Black Death (Brennivin) and rotten fish which wasn't as awful as everyone else said!

I think I will leave it here for now and the next post will be our last stop in Iceland and a bit of our journey home! Then that should wrap up my Iceland Adventures. (Finally)
Hope you enjoyed!

~Toodles~
